TinyUmbrella Adds iOS 4.3.5 Support And Optional iPhone 4 Baseband Update

The newest version of TinyUmbrella not only adds support for iOS 4.3.5 to save SHSH blobs, but also adds an optional feature whether to update or not the iPhone 4 baseband. According to TinyUmbrella’s blog post

• First, the version you WANT to restore to and the version Apple is currently signing must BOTH have the same baseband. This is important or else the baseband update will not work and you will get a 10xx error and need to use fixrecovery. (Works for iPhone 4 – will not work for iPad 2)
• Second, you need to realize that checking the box WILL UPDATE YOUR BASEBAND.
• Third, I’m working on a simple tool that will allow you to create a pseudo-custom firmware mixing a new baseband with an older iOS version (one that is jailbreakable for example). This feature exists in the TinyUmbrella rewrite but does not yet exist in the older codebase. SORRY! I’m working on it!

I do not save your ‘UPDATE iPHONE 4 BASEBAND’ setting. If you wish to restore while updating/restoring your iPhone 4 baseband you must check that box every single time you run TinyUmbrella. It is just safer that way.

So, before you accidentally update to iOS 4.3.5 make sure that you have saved the SHSH blobs of iOS 4.3.4 to downgrade.....

How Iphone in DFU Mode....

Step-by-Step

1. Turn the iPhone ON
 
2. CONNECT it to the computer with a DIRECT USB connection.
 
3. Make sure iTunes is open so you'll know when it enters DFU mode.
 
4. HOLD the Power/Sleep-Wake button AND the Home button for 10 seconds.
 
5. RELEASE only the Power/Sleep-Wake button and continue to hold the Home button.
 
6. WAIT until iTunes recognizes the phone in DFU Restore mode (in Windows a bubble pops up saying it 
recognized new hardware "DFU Mode" or something to that effect)
The last step may take SOME TIME, like, say, even 60 seconds or so.
The screen should be OFF (black), if you see the "Connect to iTunes" logo, START OVER.
It may take a few tries to do the steps just right, just reboot
(hold both Power/Sleep-Wake AND Home until the Apple logo appears and the phone turns back on) then try again.
 
7. Then restore the iphone

The Obsessive Compulsive in me was demanding that I remove these icons from the menu.

This walkthrough is a quick step by step on how you can hide menu icons of unused programs.

1. Install BossPrefs. This is a app that can be found in the utility section of Cydia..

3. Tap on the Hide Icons button on the bottom of the BossPrefs screen..

4. Scroll down the list to find the icon you would like to hide. Tap the ON switch to
turn it to off in order to hide an icon for the app.

This does not remove the app from your phone, it merely hides the icon. This is very
useful for apps that you cannot remove such as the apps that come installed on the phone from the factory.
